Welcome to Iris Lodge – A Home with Purpose
Iris Lodge is the newest residential centre under Rainbow Community Services, nestled in the peaceful surroundings of Beaulieu, Termonfeckin in Drogheda. Purpose-built to support adolescents aged 12–18 years, the centre offers both short-term and medium-term care placements in a modern, spacious home. With five private en suite bedrooms, comfortable communal areas, and beautiful outdoor space, Iris Lodge is a safe and nurturing environment where young people can stabilise, grow, and transition to the next step in their journey—whether that’s returning home, progressing to independence, or moving to long-term care.

























Who We Support
Iris Lodge is designed for adolescents aged 12–18 presenting with emotional or behavioural challenges. Our service is open to both male and female residents and caters to placements of up to nine months. Every young person receives individualised care and support plans developed in consultation with professionals and families, ensuring a consistent and therapeutic approach tailored to their needs and aspirations.

Harry Deans first opened the doors of Rainbow Community Services in 2005, laying the foundation for the compassionate, high-quality care the organisation is known for today.
Now 67, Harry remains a dedicated and valued member of the staff team. His presence at the opening of Iris Lodge is a proud moment, marking two decades of unwavering commitment to the care and wellbeing of young people.

Andrew McArdle
Unit Manager, Iris Lodge
Andrew McArdle has been part of Rainbow Community Services since 2017, beginning his journey as a Social Care Worker. Through dedication, professionalism, and a strong commitment to the young people in our care, Andrew progressed to the role of Deputy
Manager at one of our sister units. Today, we are proud to announce his appointment as the Manager of Iris Lodge. Andrew’s career path reflects the progressive and supportive culture at Rainbow, where internal promotion, ongoing training, and leadership development are actively encouraged.
His leadership at Iris Lodge will be grounded in years of hands-on experience and a deep understanding of our therapeutic approach.

Sarah Rafferty

Sarah Rafferty is another excellent example of Rainbow Community Services’ commitment to recognising and nurturing talent from within. She first joined Rainbow in 2020 as a Social Care Worker. Through dedication and continuous professional growth, she was promoted to Social Care Leader and now proudly serves as the Deputy Manager of Iris Lodge.
Sarah’s journey highlights our organisation’s strong culture of in-house development, where staff are supported to reach their full potential and step into leadership roles that shape the future of residential care.
Education as a Gateway to Opportunity

Quality Assurance and Governance
Iris Lodge maintains rigorous internal governance and oversight. Regular audits, risk assessments, and staff supervision ensure that our services meet and exceed national standards. A centre risk register is in place, and high-risk issues are escalated in partnership with Tusla and relevant professionals. Our full-time, fully qualified team includes social care leaders, social care workers, and a dedicated management team supported by our Director of Services.
Safety and Compliance
Iris Lodge is fully compliant with all fire safety and registration requirements. We maintain up-to-date fire safety certification, risk assessments, and training for all staff. Emergency procedures are prominently displayed and drilled regularly. The centre holds insurance cover for all operational and professional risks.
Emotional and Health Wellbeing
Each young person’s physical and emotional health is a top priority at Iris Lodge. We facilitate timely access to GPs, dentists, opticians, psychologists, and other specialist services. Our staff team is trained in the safe administration of medication, and we maintain robust records to support continuity of care. Emotional needs are supported through a strong key working system, dedicated behavioural support plans, and consistent therapeutic engagement.

Staffing at Iris Lodge is made up of a multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals committed to creating a stable and nurturing environment. From social care leaders and youth workers to dedicated ancillary staff, everyone at Iris Lodge is fully vetted, trained, and aligned to our core values of respect, compassion, and excellence in care.
A Home Designed for Healing
Our centre is a large, modern, detached home set on ¾ of an acre and surrounded by woodland. The property includes spacious bedrooms, a games room, staff offices, and private areas for family visits. High-speed internet, TVs, and ensuite facilities in every room support a comfortable and dignified living experience.
